Our family has been living in southside Virginia (Pittsylvania County) for many generations. In fact, the farm was part of our maternal grandfather's farm and includes a family cemetery. Our farm consists of approx. 50 acres.
Our original crop of grapes was
planted in 2000. In 2005, our family began raising pastured poultry. Since then, goats, sheep, pigs, and bees
have been added. We aspire to be a diversified farm, not much different from our
We use cover crops, homemade compost, and an organic composted chicken manure fertilizer to improve the quality of our soil. Our farm is a member of the Virginia Association for Biological Farming and Chemical-Free Farms of Southern Virginia.
The family consists of husband,
Barry, wife Lisa, daughter Kristin, son Cody, and daughter-in-law Rachel. Most of the farm work is done by family
members, with friends sometimes joining in on chicken processing day.
While we are the legal owners of
this property, we generally consider ourselves stewards and caretakers of this
